Circle of Security™-Parenting is an 8-week parenting program based on years of research about how to build a strong relationship with your child/children. It is designed to help you learn how to respond to your child’s needs in a way that enhances your connection with him/her, which often leads to changes in the child’s behavior. Circle of Security™-Parenting helps parents give their children a feeling of security and confidence so they can explore, learn, grow, and build positive relationships; all essential skills for life-long success.
Through the Circle of Security™-Parenting program, you’ll start to see that your child’s need for attention is a need for connection with you. You’ll learn how to be bigger, stronger, wiser, and kind so you can both set limits and still take the time to understand your child’s emotional world.
Who can benefit from completing Circle of Security Parenting (COS-P)
Circle of Security Parenting is helpful for all parents, caregivers, foster parents and specifically those interested in the following:
- Increased skills in reading and understanding their child’s social and emotional needs
- Increased confidence to attend to their child’s behavior concerns
- A compassionate, no-blame approach that allows parents to feel supported, regardless of their personal and parenting history
- Access to an evidence-based program supported by over 30 years of research
What age should my child be for me to complete COS-P?
Circle of Security Parenting (COS-P) is designed for parents of children aged 0-6, and most of the video-based resources are targeted to this age range. However, we have found that as our need for secure relationships remains throughout the lifespan, parents of older children also benefit from attending. We have successfully run COS-P with parents of children aged 0-18.
How does the course work?
The online course runs over 8 weeks for 90-minute sessions. The content is delivered through video and discussion between parents.
How much does it cost?
The cost for our online COS-P group is $250 total for the full 8-week course. Your partner is able to join in on the sessions for no extra cost. The full course cost must be paid up front and this is non-refundable once the course has commenced. Cost includes all 8 sessions, downloadable workbook, and support between sessions. A certificate of completion will be available at the end of the course if needed (e.g. family court, custody arrangements and employment).
Session fees for individual sessions vary and are based on the clinician’s usual hourly rate.
Are The Sessions Recorded?
To protect the privacy of parents each session will not be recorded. If you can’t make a session, please let the facilitator know as soon as possible. A quick rundown of the information missed may be available before the next session.
